Tom spent a week and a half stateside for our friend Eric’s wedding, which meant it was just me and the boys holding down the fort. It was quiet but busy.
Then the Labor Day long weekend rolled around, which called for a proper reset. My friend Nadia and I drove down to Inverloch for a two-night girls’ trip. Inverloch is a popular seaside town on the spectacular Gippsland coastline, two hours southeast of Melbourne. It's known for the calm waters of Anderson Inlet and for the discovery of Australia's first dinosaur bone.
We left midday on Saturday, stopping to stretch our legs on the George Bass Coastal Walk—one of the first hikes Tom and I did after moving to Australia.
The Bunurong Coastal Drive was beautiful in that wild coastal way.
We stayed in a rustic BnB and kept things intentionally simple: beach walks, cooking, and wine. The fall-like weather was cool and windy, which made the weekend feel slower and cozier.
We spent time wandering along the local beaches and exploring the dramatic rock formations, caves, and rock pools.
A highlight was discovering Bev's Coffee Roasters. With excellent coffee and ethos, it's exactly the kind of local spot you hope to stumble upon on a weekend getaway.
The rest of the month passed by quickly, rounding out with a show at the Melbourne Interenational Comedy Festival—a fitting reminder of how lucky we are to call home what was recently named the world's best city.
