Tom and I are too new to Melbourne to know what's "normal" weather for each season, but apparently our first year here was unseasonably cool and rainy. Lately the weather has been more in line with what I expected when we decided to move to Australia—sunshine for days.
After our holiday in Queensland, I started a new job at Animal-Free Science Advocacy. I'm excited to continue my values-driven career by advocating for scientific progress through animal-free science. Most of January was dedicated to orientation alongside the other new recruit, Dana.
Our car landed in the shop last month to undergo major repairs, but I've been fortunate to continue my morning bay swims each week by carpooling with my new squad friend, Dave.
This month, we also had the pleasure of hosting Tom's parents. After we saw them in Cairns, they travelled through Brisbane and Sydney before meeting us in Melbourne. As with our previous visitors, it's always special to share the life we've built here.
One of my favorite memories was taking them to dinner at Studley Park Boathouse. It was magical to watch the local fruit bats take flight as the full moon rose above a sunset-painted skyline.
